Why choose BEYOND BREAKOUT?
Beyond Breakout are a unique provider in the educational sector.
Our activities provide an experience for your pupils designed to promote mental wellbeing, critical thinking and develop problem solving skills. The 2023 NHS survey on children’s mental health made startling reading, with 20.3% of 8 to 16 year olds having a probable mental disorder. With our combined experience of over 20 years working in education and more recently our 8 years running our escape games business, we were sure that we could utilise our skills to encourage children to be active, to feel connected as part of a team and to boost their mental wellbeing. At the core, our games are about increasing mental wellbeing, resilliance, problem solving, lateral thinking and working as a team, all proven to increase self-esteem and personal connection with others.

THE SCIENCY BIT
How the research backs up our approach:
Research & educational impact
Our immersive KS2 experience is built on well-established educational research into active learning, experiential learning, and problem-based learning—approaches widely recognised for improving pupil engagement and attainment
why this approach works
Rather than passively receiving information, pupils actively participate, collaborate, and solve problems. This approach is strongly supported by education research:
Experiential learning improves knowledge retention, motivation, and problem-solving skills
Active learning increases engagement and understanding across subject areas
Pupils develop stronger communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills when learning is interactive and applied

proven impact on learning
Proven impact on learning
- Research consistently shows that active, hands-on learning approaches:
- Improve academic performance and retention of knowledge
- Increase pupil engagement and motivation
- Reduce disengagement by making learning meaningful and applied
- Help pupils transfer skills to real-world contexts
- In some studies, replacing passive instruction with active learning has been shown to significantly improve overall attainment and reduce underperformance.
The "phygital" approach
Why "phygital" learning is effective
Our approach combines:
- Physical, hands-on problem solving
- Digital interaction and guided challenges
- Collaborative, mission-based learning
- This blended model mirrors how children already engage with the world—through both physical exploration and digital environments—making learning feel natural, immersive, and relevant.
